BBSA members are used to providing expert advice to architects, specifiers, contractors, and building owners and users as to the best solution for any solar shading problem.
Blinds, awnings and shutters come in a huge range of styles, colours and finishes. Virtually any style can be motorised for convenience or even automatic for operation.
Solar shading is increasingly being used to effectively control the internal environment of buildings by helping to reduce heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. Glazing is static whereas blinds are dynamic allowing the occupier or even the building management system to operate the blinds based on the prevailing environmental conditions.
The BBSA's Shade Specifier project demonstrates the energy saving and internal comfort benefits to be derived from blinds, awnings and shutters.
