Folding-arm awnings work by the operating arms of the awning (usually a pair but can be more depending on the width) extending outwards and tensioning the awnings fabric. When they retract they consume a small amount of space and sometimes retract within a PPC or anodised housing (cassette).
Hardware on folding-arm awnings typically come in a number of standard colours and can be powder coated to a specific RAL colour.
The fabrics used on awning covers are typically acrylic and many have coatings to provide water and dirt resistant properties.
Operation of a folding-arm awning can be manual via a crank handle which is located on one side of the cassettes housing or automated. With automated awnings the control options are extensive from wired solutions, to wireless switching and links to automatic operation.
