Robustly constructed fins are a very effective and functional sun screen that will be a significant feature on your building.
Most are fabricated from extruded or pre-coated formed aluminium to an aerofoil profile with end pins and side channels. They can be a fixed Brise Soleil or operated to adjust the louvre angle enabling control of solar gain and glare from different sun angles.
Standard louvre sizes are from 100mm to the largest that at 600mm that can span up to 6m without horizontal support and 8m when fitted vertically.
Timber Louvres are either a slatted profile or formed to an aerofoil section and are usual of cedar as it has an attractive grain pattern that weathers without the need for treatment
Although manual operation is possible they would usually be motorised to open and close and be linked to the Building Management System.
