Tensile Structures

Tensile structures are constructed using a material that is then pulled taut by being fixed permanently in position. These shades can be made in a wide range of shapes and styles.

With tensile structures only certain fabrics are suitable as the material must be capable of retaining its shape whilst under high tension.

Similarly the structure the shade is affixed to and the fixings used must be carefully considered to support the forces required to hold the shade safely and securely in place.

These fixed position shades can be used to dissipate heat and light in rooflight and atria situations and they can be fitted externally as well – see here.
