These large umbrella products come in an extensive range of sizes, shapes, materials and finishes.
Traditional wooden parasols typically can cover an area of about 2m in diameter. Parasols using aluminium or stainless steel construction can cover almost double this area.
Fabrics tend to be acrylic which are suitable for external use and are treated to make them UV, fade, water and stain resistant.
Given the overall size of these parasols the installation is an important consideration. Weighted bases, some containing paving slabs, are used but it is also possible to have the parasol permanently fixed in the ground.
Parasols can be operated by cords, a gearbox or by electric motor.
