Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds are an easy way of shading windows, especially patio doors and can even be used for sloping glazing

Vertical blinds consist of strips of specially stiffened fabric or other materials that are suspended from an aluminium track and are usually supplied with weights and chains at the base.

The louvres or slats of the blinds can be tilted to control the light entering the room or can be fully closed for privacy. This level of control makes vertical blinds a very popular blind style.

Operation is simplicity itself with a cord to traverse the louvres and a chain to tilt them. Alternatively a child-safe wand attached to the first louvre can be used to simply pull or push the blind into place. Vertical blinds can also be made with motorised operation either with a 240v motor, 24v motor and there are even battery operated motors available. The louvres can be stacked either side of the opening or just to one side.

Vertical blinds can be used for all sizes of windows but are ideal for large glazing, patio doors or to cover a number of windows with one blind such as in a conservatory. They can also be used to shade sloping glazing as the slats can be sized to suit the slope.

The slats typically come in 89mm (3.5”) and 127mm (5”) widths are available in an extensive range of fabrics including plains, prints, jacquard and heat reflective materials. Solid and perforated PVC, aluminium and even wood slats are also available so there is something for every decor, taste and budget.
