Child Safety

Child Safety. It is your responsibility.

You are reminded that under the General Product Safety Regulations you have a duty to sell a “safe” product.

If you sell or install blinds
You have a responsibility to advise clients about child safety options at the time of survey and ensure the appropriate child safe blind or appropriate device is installed with the blind and functioning correctly. You have a responsibility to check all existing blinds and if you consider them to pose a hazard, do something about it. If you do not do this change your approach now.

If you buy blinds from a third party
They have a responsibility to advise you of the child safety options available for the various blind types they sell. If they do not advise you of the child safety options – change your supplier now.

If you manufacture blinds
You have are responsibility to review the various child safe blinds and child safety devices available. Determine which products you offer with the blinds you manufacture and supply and include the selected child safety and instructions items every time. If you don’t do this currently change this practice now.

If you design, manufacture or distribute systems
You have a responsibility to provide appropriate safety devices in the form of component parts and supply relevant instructions for their safe installation and use. Identify to your customers how and why they should be used with each system you supply. If you don’t do this now – change systems or stop supply now.
